I was fishing a lake a while back and was getting skunked so in the middle of the lake is a huge weed bed real tough to fish though lots of pockets in the weeds so i set up a drift sock so that i drifted over the pockets in the bed real slow I was able to flip my bait caster in the pockets real well and ended up having a great day any one ever try this method over lond 1/2 mile weed beds

I fish the weed beds all the time Milo. I do just like you did. I will get right up in there and flip the holes in the milfoil with a weightless senko. Works great dont it. Also in the spring just before the weeds get to the surface I will run a shallow runing jointed rapalla between the weeds and the surface I catch my biggest bass this way.Getting the boat right up in those weeds scares the heck out some guys, they think I am nuts for going in there till I come out with fish.

Drift Sock for slowing down while bass fishing HMMMM methinks I am glad you posted this one. I have a pontoon which by nature are very wind prone and use a sock drifting for cats but have not tried it for bass. I like to bass fish ocasionally and it is a pain to fight the wind with the trolling motor in the pontoon. Thanks for the info and what sounds like good advice.

I use a sit-on-top kayak for fishing and can get right in the middle of the weedbeds with out a problem. I also use a drift sock when the wind kicks up. Nothing better than fishing at sealevel.

Hi canandwill!

I often fish from my 12' Walden Scout (sit in recreational kayak) and while I have a small anchor I'd never thought of a drift sock....

What size sock do you use and how to you rig it?

Thanks!
