Thanks for the link. I've read several stories on this and this one is the first to give the actual cause, i.e. wrong span. One story vaguely mentioned high water levels but you'd think they'd have known that.

I see they're talking about some of the nav lights being out on the bridge so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

The Captain of the vessel reported that all 20 crew members were accounted for. The Captain told emergency officials that he believed that there were no vehicles on the bridge at the time of the accident.

However, Kentucky State Police told the News Edge at the scene there were four vehices on the bridge when the impact occurred, including an off duty Kentucky State Trooper. All vehicles were able to return to safety.

That's just seriously lucky.

When I first saw this story, my thoughts immediately went to this: Sunshine Skyway
