Th guy looked at it a few days ago, he seemed genuine, wanting to spend time with grandkids

I told him I would not be offended by 30 percent less offer new wheeled and dealed and he got some new batteries, tubes, 3d fish finder and new color chartplotter, a complete turnkey boat for half what it is worth. I looked at him and I love my boat but never get to use it, I loved it eenough that I would rather it go to a good home where it will get enjoyed

It's like liking a dog but never being home, it's better on a farm

I bid a teary farewell and hope the bankdraft is good

It's hard to let them go but good to know it's going to a good home.

Re: I sold my boat today :(

I'll be honest. I'd have pulled all the extra's off as complete setups and sold them on craigslist/ebay and then offered the boat as-is after repairing the holes from instrument/extras mounting, then taken the beating on the boat setup as-is...but I'm 32 and engaged staring a future family in the eyes so I have a right to be stingy :p

dont look back, only forward. you just need a newer setup that suits you better than that boat apparently couldnt at your stage.

I cant wait to restore my grandpa's 72 fiberglass scout that I grew up shrimping on. only reason he parked it at my parents house is because he couldnt stand the fiberglass needles anymore and he's 80 with no interest in making it comfy/seaworthy anymore.

I hope in the next two years (if he lives long enough) I can refinish it and we can go out again for shrimping season on it so I can see that smile one last time (and the cussing when his dentures go into the water lol) as he casts from the bow stand.

you have no idea how much money I will spend and sweat hours I will spend to see that happen...

Of course you can. That is a much better plan than "Hoping he bank draft is good"

Personally, I would draft a signed bill of sale (DMV has forms for this in NY) and check the sellers ID. And always require a cash deposit. Might not be a fool proof plan but con artists do not like to show ID, sign documents (with there true identity verified) and especially don't want to give you cash.

I don't know about your state but you CANNOT do that in SC anymore. Banks will not give you any information on someone's account. They will not confirm a check for you. That policy has been in place for a few years now

Yea i have worked at a bank for the last 4 years and we have never verified that type of information. I would request cash or a cashiers check!

Re: I sold my boat today :(

I thought I was not using my Lund Tyee, as much as I should and got the great idea to sell her.
Was fine for about 3 days, then started feeling quite empty, even though I have many friends with all kinds of boats, I was really regretting the decision, and ended up buying another run about.
I realize now, that I MUST always have a boat of some type in my stable. Actually I have 2 now, and am considering a 3rd. As things change around me and priorities adjust, one thing I won?t do again is be without a boat. It's in my blood and I just enjoy boating way too much to not have one, or two, or three.
I can recommend a good doctor if you start having withdraws, but the real way to avoid this is to always have one. Boating is my therapy and I love it.

Ditto! My problems melt away when I am out on the boat. Great therapy and it is paid for..well except for the gas and that is cheaper than a therapist
