I went to an AOMCI meet today and a guy had a Brand New 1972 evinrude 9.5 there today. Absolutely beautiful. He got it from the original owner that purchased it new in `72 and never got around to using it. He had the motor, stand, 2 new tanks( never had fuel in them) and the factory cover that went with it. I wish i would have had my camera! He asked me what i thought it was worth i said $500+, he was thinking the same. Whats your thoughts on a price?

I've seen items like that go for as high as 2 grand. It's a high end collector's piece. I'd personally buy one if I needed a 9.5, but I also would use it! The typical "colector" would lock it up in a safe somewhere! I'm sure Ole would be disappointed.

I bought a 60 year old Smith and Wesson last year. It was new in the box and valued at $1600. Since then I've shot the crap out of it and now as an old used antique its only worth about $1000.

Gotta decide whether your a User or a Collector, or a User-Collector....LOL.

$500 sound like a giveaway for that condition. I had a 1969 Johnson 9.5 and you couldn't kill it, it just eventually got tired. Loved that motor & its unique profile.
