Re: i/o overheating

The squeal makes me think it may be the drive belt for the engine circulating pump is slipping. Check the belt for tension, glazing and any obvious defects first. Do you have water in the heat exchanger? When was the last impeller change in the lower unit?

CHECK THE WEAR ON THE BELT.
I WOULD BUT A NEW ONE ON BUT FIRST
WHEN THE BELT OFF CHECK HOW FREE THE
PUMP IS.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT THE "V" OF THE
BELT.
THEY RUN ON THE BOTTOM OF BELT WHICH
WELL CAUSE WHAT YOU SAID.
WHEN I WAS THERE I WOULD CHANGE THE PUMP JUST
TO BE SAFE.
REX A. HUBBLE
FLUSH IT TOO.
PLEASE PULL THE THERMOSTAT OUT. FIRST!!!!!!!!

BY OVER HEATING I HOPE YOU DID NOT DO ANY
HARM TO THE ENGINE.
PLEASE CHECK THE BELT AND THE THERMOSTAT
FIRST.
