Hey everyone,
I am looking at taking a vacation to florida in a few months and have found a rental in the keys that has a boat dock so I would like to bring my boat with me.

I have a 1984 Stingray svb165 with the 3.0L 140Hp mercruiser with Alpha one out drive.

So the Question is how do I prepare to run this setup in salt water? Also the paint is missing from my skag where it has worn off as I see on most boats. Do I need to worry about this or will it be Okay? The boat will be in the water for no more than a week.

I figured I would replace all the annoids, ensure that all the corosion protection items are in top condition.

Thanks in advance for your help

i will be leaving Friday for Little Torch Key for 10 days. nothing is different, than fresh water, really for that period of time. just a good flush when out of the water. we do wash our boat down, every evening, and put the covers on. this gives us a clean boat for the next day, and not salt sticky.

It looks like right now we are going to ilamorada it looks like a pretty nice area.

Any suggestions, as we have not made our reservation yet, would be greatly appreciated. We are looking for somewhere in the keys.

There are several places like Tashasdaddy rents that has docks and is boater friendly.
We camp in Bahia Honda, also in the middle keys and use the boat ramp just north of the campsite. We would leave the boat on the trailer there overnight and drop it in in the morning so we could use it all day. That could be an option if you can't find a place with a dock. Here is a link that could be helpful.
Also, get ready to see some of the most beautiful water in Florida. :)

If your boat hasn't been in saltwater before then your trailer probably hasn't either. Check the trailering forum for hints there too. You will love it. My old man has a house on Lower Metacumbe Key no doubt feasting on lobsters.

wash down, after every dip. if the trailer is going to a week, wash it down, then wash down, after loading.
