im looking at a fresh water 1991 Thompson 310 Santa Cruz. Beautiful boat, well maintained. Powered by twin 5.0L Mercs and alpha 1 drives. asking price is $21,999.00. Any thoughts or opiniions to give?

They made good quality wooden boats. When they made the transition to fiberglass the quality didn't continue.

That's a 21 year old boat. The price is way too high. It isn't worth more than $12-15k.

they did go out of business in 1998. I realize the price is high but I will offer around 14K. I currently on Thompson 245 Carrera. She has been a great cuddy. We want to up grade but do not want to spend a fortune. The Merc 5.0 makes it very attractive.

The boat comes with two year old canvas and a 3 year old tri axle aluminum trailer. Has anyone been on, known any owners of, piloted a Thompson this size?

My friend had a 30 foot Thompson with twin merc 3.0/Alphas. It would do about 40MPH. He never had any unusual issues with it.
I doubt you will want to trailer that boat very often. You will need a big truck to pull it.

I've got a big enough truck with a diesel. I would only tow it twice a year. To the lake and then home.
