Ultimately, it is a volvo penta inboard engine that has only 15 hours on it since it was REBUILT last year. He said the boat total has about 136 hours but something happend with the engine and it needed this huge overhaul. Additionally, he said that it is under a 2 year warranty for the engine that runs through May 2013 and that he will give me all of the info related to the place the boat/engine was serviced and everything. Trailer is included.

Do you think I should avoid this since the engine was rebuilt? I guess my question is would you pay this price and or worry about it having more issues down the road? Thanks!

The price is a bit high, in my opinion. $8000-8500 seems realistic.

I would wonder why a boat needs a rebuild at ~115 hours... Whether it means you will have problems down the road or not, can not be determined over the internet.. Depends who rebuilt it, and how.

The interior is a bit dirty, but otherwise looks pretty good. The engine makes 190hp, not 195 like the listing says, but whatever. All of the usual caveats regarding buying a used fiberglass boat apply, so do your due dilligence.

10K seems high for a 12 year old 18 ft boat. I'd ask the seller what specifically happened to the engine.

I'd say a bit on the high side and he is looking to recoup some of the $ he put into the new engine. Is it possible it froze up north?
You can tell that FW was a nice boat in its day especially with the fiberglass floor but wow those guages look like something off of the 1980's car's my folks had as a kid.

Condition is everything in a boat like this. If the interior and hull are really clean then this is what Crownlines and Four Winns bring in this area (the NC Triangle/Piedmont). But the boat needs to be really clean at that price. I wouldn't worry about the engine - the guy undoubtedly didn't winterize it and............

Nevertheless, play it safe and get it inspected at one of the local boat places (eg the one on HWY 70).

EDIT: Here's a similar boat. Looks as nice or nicer for quite a bit less:

Only a couple of hours away.
