Hi y'all I'm new to the forum and also just purchased my first boat. She's nothin special just a Lund WC-14 with a yamaha 15 hp 4 stroke for fishin fun.

I'm not an experianced boater and I have a few questions that I'd appreciate some advise on from those with experiance.

I'm a big guy 6'3", 250 lb and with me, the motor and batteries in the back I'm having a hard time getting the boat up on plane unless one of my buddy's litterally sit on the bow until she builds up speed. Any idea what to try?

Should I use a transom saver for transport given the size of the boat and motor?

I am also looking for advise on what type of water conditions should I avoid given the size of my boat?

I live near Lake St. Clair and numerous inland lakes in South East Michigan.

Thanks in advance for takin time to read and respond.

14 ft is basically a lake boat not big water. you can do big water just watch conditions. get as much weight out of the stern as possible. move battery and fuel tank forward. as you know you are tail heavy.

Couple of suggestions that might help. Since you are indeed a big guy I'd try to move all the weight I could to the bow. Even with that a 15 h.p. motor will have a hard time getting you on plane.
Well, as a new boater I don't think anyone can tell you what water's to avoid or not. BUT with a boat of that size I wouldn't feel safe in anything over one foot seas - possibly less until you get to know the feel of the boat better.
Oh - welcome to the zoo.
