Have this Chris Craft connie I am working on, 42 feet, 1963.
A exceptionally clean boat, but the previous owner was more into visuals than mechanicals. Its a mess, wrong parts, strange wiring, and modified cooling systems. Needless to say, the Sb engine had one blocked riser, the previous mechanic took out the guts with a chisel,, and remounted it. soo.. indeed lots of salt water in the last 2 cylinders, and it sat for 3 weeks, and than.. no start.. oh lala..
Motor frozen, and indeed so one of my friends bought this boat, and I was asked to get involved.
I found a guy back east who sells a chemical that dissolves rust, I have used it a great many times for badly rusted car and boat parts, even got a rusted 671 detroit back to life.
Anyhow, I removed heads and floaded the engine with this chemical, and guess what.. the engine unfroze, and turns over easily now. It is not what I think is the best solution, but removal of this engine and rebuilding it would be very very time consuming. Even if the engine has less compression on two cylinders.. its not going to be perfect.. but it will run..
Anyhow, manifolds are square Chris Craft fresh water type ones, no problem there, but I need the adapter plates to the risers, and 2 good risers. Its a 1963 Lincoln 431 apprently only used in Cris cafts between mid 50ties, and early sixties.
Affectionately called Marauder's . Manifolds of a 460 are different. soo.. suggestions?

Henri.

460 cooled exhaust parts are even difficult to find. I'd be scared about abtaining any for a 431. What is the 431 derived from? I doubt it was a stand alone head/block casting.

Even if the manifolds are different, maybe the risors have some commonality with something else?

Try Robert Henkiel at scripps@chris-craft-parts.com, I have never done business with him but did alot with his dad (Pete) who pasted away a few years back. He owned Saint Clare Flat's Marine and Pete knew where ever used C/C part in North America was, I understand the kid is the same--Bob

I Think you'll be SOL if you're looking for New parts,...........

The Great Lakes from Minnesota to Here would be My Searching Grounds......
Lots of Chris's were berthed on the Sweetwater Seas.......
Sweetwater Parts will Last almost Forever............

Saltwater is going to be a Major Problem for you with this boat..........

Good Luck.............

Also check with Doug Russel Marine.

I had a conversation with him awhile back about some older Ford based engines he had. He has some "interesting" stuff laying around.
