I need network printer setup help.

Just swapping out Mrs Boomyals laptop (new Dell 600m) at her kitchen desk station. My son had previously set up her Toshiba (98SE) to access the HP laser printer and HP officejet over our wired network via a 'workgroup'.<br /><br />He is unable to locate the network printers on the new XP laptop.<br /><br />Any assistance would be appreciated

START<br /><br />Control Pannel<br /><br />Printers and Faxs<br /><br />File /add printer<br /><br />follow the wizzard and pick network printer if you cant find it at this point<br /><br />I have found that the XP firewall can cause problems within a home network finding stuff<br /><br />you can turn off the firewall in network connections /right click local area connection and proprites its under the advanced tab<br /><br />tommays

Second time must be the charm tommays. This is the exact proceedure that we went thru (with firewall off) the first time. But none of the printers showed up.<br /><br />We did a few other things, rebooted then went back to follow your instructions to the letter. Voila! All of the printers showed up. Thanks

for my printers here, I have one computer as the server, and had to make a "virtual port" to connect to the printer, and then all the other computers map to the server that has it as a "shared printer"
