I lost my Swiss Military watch at the waterpark this past weekend and need a new one.

Any recomendations on a wrist watch. Has to be waterproof, preferably stainless, steel band, nothing real fancy for around 200 dollars.

I think that the sky is the limit in that price range RP, just don't have any suggestions for you.

My current everyday watch is a Swiss Army Military by Wenger. I think it cost 68$ at Costco a little over a year ago. Waterproof to 200 m and stainless band too.

In that price range you can pick up a nice Swiss Army. Depending on how you use/abuse a watch you might want a $39 casio and a better watch for nicer occassions.

Rolex watches are nice but tune-ups (yes they get tune ups) can be pricey.

Myself I wear a Tag.

I wear a Casio with a canvas band. Have been through four or five in the last 15 years. Think this one was about $10. Never paid more than $50, never gained or lost a second.

My "dress up" Bonsoir, that I wear about twice a year loses time and seems to need a new battery every time I want to wear it.

Ain't that the truth about having electric dress up watches sitting around. :|

In Reel Poor's price range, I would consider looking into one of the Seiko Kinetics (return of the self-wind) No batteries to futz with there.

Great watch Tommays. It's one of those Kinetics I mentioned above. It's like Seiko re-invented the wheel. I have an old Timex Self Wind on a big ol silver Southwestern band with turquois inlaid in it. If you want to wear it, pick it up, set the time, shake it a few times and you are off and running. That watch is from the '70s

I have a Citizen "Eco Drive" that I absolutely love.

The Eco Drive will keep it running for over a month with one hour of light to regenerate it. It is solar, (whole watch face is a collector) so to speak. It hasn't lost more than five minutes, in six years.

It is a dressy watch, yet I wear it everywhere. Doing things I shouldn't with a nice watch on.

Top shelf quality at a decent price.

Check out Citizen-Eco Drive.

I second that!

I have three Eco-Drives. I've never owned a better, more reliable, more convenient watch. No batteries, charges while I wear it (or sitting on my bathroom counter-top), and there are both dress & casual models.

I have this watch currently. It's an Armitron SS Sport/Dress watch. It was I think $40-50 when I bought it. It hasnt lost any time and is pretty comfortable

It replaced a few really nice watches I had that broke at work. I smashed the faces off a couple. I have a Fossil watch that I wear when I dress up, but I don't have a picture of it. It was $150 when I bought it a few years back. I like the Fossil better personally, but for the price I can't say anything bad about the Armitron I have now.

Re: I Need A New Watch

I prefer a dual mode watch (like to have an alarm and countdown timer) in addition to hands...My dual mode timex had bit the dust. To replace it, I had bought first a SS casio (~$100) and then a bulova Marine star dual mode (~$300) for myself a few months ago, but ended up returning each of them after getting them home and giving them the once over. Casio weighed just over a ton, and had some goofy/gimmicky features (moon phase / fish biting indicator etc). Bulova was a dual mode, but had the cruddiest features on the digital side. (was 'bout the same the free watches you get with rice crispies). Didn't have a light for the digital window, didn't have a countdown timer. It looked snazzy, but went back.

Ended up buying another timex, Expedition stainless dual mode... was $85. Has stainless band, not heavy and has good digital features. (dual alarms etc) I also like the indiglo lighting for the whole analogue face. My last watch was a previous version of this timex model and lasted 7 years, so I'll be happy if this one goes as long. The 2 buys above were just a failed attempt to try something different/"better". (normally my mantra is "change is bad"). Usually serves me well.
