Hello everyone, I just rebuilt my 1981 evinrude 70 hp ELCIM engine. After tearing it down the #1 crankshaft journal had some wear and I didn't want to use it.. The crankshaft part # is 317160,I bought another crankshaft that was in like new condition part # 328788.According to a interchange chart this would work properly., After rebuilding this engine with the new crankshaft I went to sit the engine back together and, Well,It would not sit down in place on the driveshaft so I lifted it up and the spline's on this crankshaft are fine spline.. My driveshaft has a 4 lug spline and a little bigger in diameter.I am in a pickle now and not sure what to do.. The question I have is -- Is there a fine spline driveshaft that will fit my lower unit so I won't have to tear the engine down and replace the crankshaft with the big 4 lug spline???. I sure wished I would have asked the seller about the driveshaft spline's..I guess I had a senior moment!!. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank y'all and have a great day.
