Yesterday we were heading back to the Marina. The channel into the Marina is fairly narrow and there is a break on one side that protects a small cove and beach area. There were quite a few boats anchored in the cove and people on the beach. There was a young girl on a jet ski buzzing around the cove and in front of the channel... I all of a sudden had that sinking feeling that something bad was about to happen and I shut down the boat before heading into the Channel. Good thing I did because a large cabin cruiser was coming around the bend and the young girl took a spill just in front of him:eek:. he had to cross over onto my side to avoid her. If I had not of stopped. I would have been the 3rd wheel in that cog and it would not have been pretty:facepalm:.

The kid? she just climbs on her seadoo and takes off only to fall in front of another boat heading towards the Marina.

I was hopping mad:mad: and sure glad I listened to my gut!

don't worry. I followed up to make sure someone took care of the situation.

I have backed down from 65 to 30 on a 4 lane highway because the intersection I was approaching was stacking up to where if any one person made a mistake, there would be no where to go with the rig. It's called defensive driving.

My dad taught me, "Drive like every one else on the road is completely nuts, because a few of them are."

kudos liking the defensive driving and it don't matter what your opperating always treat other drivers as if they are nuts i agree. almost got creamed one time by some girl talkin on her celly while i was driving a new holland down the road, broad daylight , flashers, lights, slow moving vehicle sign, (and was only using 2 feet of the paved road) and she still came close enought i could of reached out and slapped her from the passenger side.

i know that exact feeling axeman, i've been in landscaping for 20 years and the worse part is snow removal. it absolutly amazes me how stupid people are as soon as a few flakes start to fly. we plow medical clinics and it is unbelievable when you get done clearing a section off you look in the rear view mirror and there is some knucklehead right on the rear bumper. flashing strobe lights i guess make them like a moth to a light at night. we always say just because they have a license doesn't mean they have a brain that works. glad everyone is safe.

Always go with the gut instinct. It will always prevail. I always try to control the traffic around me, wether that be backing off or slowing down, or speeding up and punching it to get out of some idiots way. I assume I am the only one paying attention and this assumption is usually correct. Glad I learned the defensive tactics at a young age.

Glad you made out LeeCeeB and I hope someone teaches said girl a lesson. EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE....we cannot have enough of it these days.

only flaw i see in that comment is the word "some" replace with "most" i can point out a number of drivers along a 30 minuite drive on a highway with out looking for them. not only do i do defensive driving i have found poeple do not like it when they hit construction cones. if some one is tailgating my i drive with in 6-8 inches of a cone as there car might be over the extra 6-8 inches and by the time they see it they either hit it or back the f@#! off. also when highway lanes merge from 2-1 and you get the dozen people that dont feel they need to get over, i find i am the number 1 driver when i swerve over into the closed-ahead lane. you may call me an idiot when i drive but i hate how rude people are thinking they dont need to wait there turn because there special. i just know i dont want them ahead of me causeing an acident with another rude person that couldnt wait.

graveyards are full of poeple who didnt wait, cemataries are full of people who couldnt wait

Re: I listened to that uh oh feeling.

I just can't figure out why so many people are in such a hurry. An emergency trip to the hospital I can understand, but there can't be that many drivers with that emergency. I live in an outlying area and have a 10 mile or so drive into town. The highway I take has a 55 speed limit. I'm passed daily by others that just have to go faster (I do 55 or 60) and then 9 times out of 10 I meet them at the next stop light or intersection. I don't see why they need to get there and wait longer than me??? I always leave early enough that I don't have to "rush". Somtimes I think the whole world just needs to sloooow down a bit.
