We all keep talking about our boats, and problems, and tips/advice...We should give the trucks that get them to the lake and back for us.

Post up a picture or two of what tows your boat to the lake and back. :D

I'll start.

Now thats a tow car to be proud of. I'm sure all those guys with the F-150's are envious, and mad as heck that they didn't keep their Buick when they had one.

Pickup trucks are for cowboys, or to use at the jobsite. Certainly not at the launch ramp.

Not a lot of us car drivers towing it seems. Heck, I wouldn't own a boat I couldn't tow with my old Volvo. Keeps the cost of boating down, too.

You can't be serious.

A lot of the launch ramps in our area (northern Canada) have a dirt or sand surface. And one often has to back the tow vehicle well into the water to launch and load. A high clearance 4x4, like a pickup or SUV, is pretty much a necessity.

In FL you wont' see a car at a boat ramp unless its a towing a jetski. The boats down here average well over 20' and tow weight is well over 5000lbs. Not too many cars built to take that kind of punishment.

I'm only half serious...LOL The comment was TIC. I'm just not a truck kinda guy. If I had to own a truck just to drive to the launch ramp twice a week, and drive the klunky thing all week long, I'd buy a boathouse instead. Just my likes and dislikes. Y'all can drive what you like.

Very true. That's why when I found a car that WAS built to take it, I dedicated it to the boat and have kept it pristeen ever since.

BTW, my car is the only one at the launch ramp. I get comments all the time about how it won't pull that boat out. After they see how easy I do it, nobody says anoither word!

I have a Jimmy, too, but it's overkill for my 12' aluminum boat. The Volvo does a great job, and gets lots better gas mileage. I let my wife drive the Jimmy on fishing days.

It does its job well

I don't have anything against pickups, but that's a nice Cadillac.

GM B/C body full size, body on frame RWD V8 cars were rated up to 7000 lbs. I know that's the rating for a '70s Electra 225 or Estate Wagon as well as a '90s Fleetwood w/ towing package. An old Carver brochure was posted and pictured an Estate Wagon towing it and those are like 28' with dual I/O's. With a mile-long wheelbase, big block V8, front discs and 12'' rear drums, and full perimeter frame they're quite suited for towing duty.

You obviously haven't looked at trucks lately. My truck has leather heated seats, Bose stereo system with CD, DVD. Driver and passenger climate control, Power seats, driving computer. It drives very well rides pretty well and handles rough roads better than the Acura Integra I used to have. It will also tow a 12,000 pound trailer. Hardly clunky.

plus the fact you will not get crushed like a tin can in an accident, my wife drives a smaller car ( dodge caliber ) and it feels like a death trap to me, if I could afford a H1 and the fuel I would
