your question requires more information to accurately answer..... and the answer is "maybe"

year matters... if you have a "late" cobra, say 1995 or newer, its actually closer to a Volvo SX, look at those for a "new" drive.... if its earlier, then you can proceed to second question, as IIRC only the "early" cobras had the 2.3 Pinto motor....

what gear ratio do you have with the 4.3, and what was offered with the 2.3.... IIRC they are not the same ratio, so you will need to try and re-prop to compensate, if there isnt a huge difference in ratios....

no, the outdrive from a 2.3 has different gearing than your 4.3. way too far apart to get a prop to work

you could just have a bent prop shaft. in that case, just replace the prop shaft.

Model no will tell you the ratio....besides that, why not rebuild what you have ? Buying used you might be buying someone else's problems ...

Ok, you are gonna run into a BIG problem with that... up until 1990 the 2.3 used a 13 spline propshaft, which you CANNOT get with enough pitch to work with the engine and drive ratio.... your 1992 drive uses a 15 spline propshaft..... you are gonna have to find a different donor drive...

as for ratios, many sites including this one will have that information available with a good search... as a basic reference... my 1995 4.3 has a 1.66 ratio, while the smallest engine that year, the 3.0 had a 1.85 ratio. Yours is likely a bit different, as mine is the late Cobra drive, basically a Volvo SX in drag.... I dont have the manuals for the earlier Cobras, but LouC might. He runs an early 4.3 in his boat

a search for props for his application shows two different propshafts.... 13 and 15 spline... the 2.3 used the 13 spline which has NO props available with anywhere near the pitch that would be needed..... his 4.3 is the 15 spline which is a bit more universal, and more available with exotic pitches.....
