I have very milky gear lube in my lower unit. Causes?

I went to change the gear lube in my lower unit yesterday and what drained out looked like a vanilla milkshake. Needless to say I obviously have water intrusion coming from somewhere. Are the likely sources gasket leaks at the top of the lower unit and on the prop shaft or could some part of the cooling system be leaking internally? The motor is a 2000 Johnson 115 V-4. \

Thanks.

Time to check and replace the LU seals. Getting fishing line wound around the prop shaft and eating that seal is a common thing.
