I'm restoring this engine back into a little bit of looks and would like to know what type of paint should I be checking into? and possibly where do I find this paint for this touch up job, what a job it will be since when we first started working on this toy project we were just gonna go down and get it running to put on anther boat to use for some fishing trips. well the engine is getting better and better sounding everytime we work on it and of course she roughly has close to three grand invested in her repairs, last weekend we took it out for a spin on the river and it was amazing how well everything worked so well from no leaks to its get up and go attitude. we just want to finish this all off by giving this job its finale squirt of colour. Any and All Q & A will be Thanked and Challenged.
Sincerely Stacks

I've used many paints on these. The Tempo brand has always brought good results, so has the ACE hardware-Industrial grade.

The key is prep.

1. Clean the engine thoroughly using a spray on degreaser.

2. Sand all areas using a wet/dry 220 grit sandpaper.

3. Wash the entire area to be painted using a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.

4. Prime any bare aluminum areas with zinc chromate primer.

5. Spray top coat.
