i have a 65 seahorse 1972 old fuel left in carbs

Motor was rebuilt top to bottom, problem is man passed away after he rebuilt it. and left old gas in carbs they were just clened out but motor a little ruff is there a additive i can use to clean up carbs or do i need carbs rebuilt:?

remove the carbs and reclean

soak the carbs in carb cleaner for 24 hours, then blow out all orafices w/ compressed air, run a small wire thru the orafices and bolw out again. reassemble making sure the float level is right, if you have cork floats replace with the new style ones. cork becomes saturated.

can a moron do this himself? well just higher than moron I have manual for engine looks simple but looks can be well first wife tells story.

Work on it sitting down with a good desk lamp or other close source of light. Don't force anything. Clean! Clean! is the mantra. Easy on the "piece of wire" trick - those orifices are very delicate and the tolerances are precise. You CAN use wire if you are very careful and you use thin copper wire. It's better to cut a nylon bristle off a paint brush and poke around with that. You just need to agitate and loosen the coating of "shelac". You are NOT reaming out the holes!
