I got spark and fuel but still.....

I have a 1984 Sea King 15 hp. Motor started and ran great. I went to the river and it wouldn't go past 1/2 throttle. Looked like no spark on one of the two coils. I ordered all new coils, points and condensor's. While I was waiting I tested the coil's with a ohm meter both read good. So I cleaned the points and set the gap putit all back toggether and tried to start it NO LUCK still have spark on both one coil is stronger then the other. Plugs are getting fuel. Any suggestions. Could I have put it back together wrong it all seemed ok.

Every engine- diesel, 4 stroke, 2 stroke etc ( except electric ) need just 3 things to work. Compression, Spark and Fuel. If you are without any of these three, your engine will not run. I'd check the compression. If you put the electrics back together incorrectly, you would have no spark. If you have fuel, then, you have fuel. Seems to me that you need to check the compression.

is the motor firing at all as in coughing? or just spinning dead? also how are you verifing there is fuel?

Not sure what is going on. The next day I tried to start it and it fired up and ran pretty well. I went ahead and put in new coils, plugs, points, and condensers. Cleaned the carb. Now If I could just get a day off when the temp is over freezing I will take it to the river...
