After all these years reading about the the "Ramp Stars" that are driving the new trucks and pulling the new boat, dressed to kill and then taking "forever" to launch, I finally saw them.

These folks were sitting in the "waiting to launch" line for 20 minutes, in front of me, in their new Cady EXP, pulling their 26" Searay Express Cruiser, with the purty custom wheels (including the spare), until it was their turn to launch. (No I am not zealous, saltwater is a b***h.)

Then the driver backed to the ramp, but not down it, so that they blocked all ramps (4 doubles) while he got on the boat, dug out, and untangled, his lines and attached them. His wife was entertaining us by sashaying around the boat in her new black bikini with the black see thru "cover-up".

After launching, which really didn't take all that long because he at least knew how to do that part, he blocked the ramp with his boat while they loaded the coolers, etc.

I have to admit that I use to think that they were an "urban myth" but it's like seeing "Big Foot", they really do exist!!

A little ramp entertainment is always good, especially when they're going out of their way to make a scene.

We had one of em on sunday as we were waiting to launch for a father's day cruise. Bunch of frat boys took about 15 minutes to load their 22' CC onto their lifted yellow F250. Idiot 1 kept yelling to idiot 2 to keep moving back. Only idiot 2 had tuned his truck/exhaust to the point that he couldn't hear idiot 1. As they were pulling out, idiot 3 was pushing on the side of the boat trying to ensure it went onto the bunks correctly.

Money is wasted on children of the rich.

Glad to hear you saw it for your self and found out it's not a urban myth.

Re: I finally saw Them

not trying to hijack your story but heres one that could have been much worse if any one else had come to the launch, posted this like 2 weeks ago its just a copy.

last fall i seen this semi back in the water with about a 35 foot trailer the boat was every bit of 33foot. sorry this is long but it was a funny long night.

now first thing is this channel for the boat ramp is about 25-30 feet wide[i know this because i have a 23 foot boat and only a few extra feet to turn around]. this channel is also only 2 feet deep between the launch and lake, where some people do swim so it is tight quarters for my boat then add another 7-10 feet plus its wider the channel also takes 2 tight 90 degree turns. i dont know how they got the boat into the launch physically.

its about 9 pm starting to get dark total time spent loading 2 hours. now the people loading is an 80+ year old hill billy weighing in at maybe 130 lbs. a woman, i think, in a pair of jean overalls, and a shirtless, toothless, hairy type of guy. not trying to judge people by looks, but i dont think they have a pot to ....

now for the loading as it gets darker they procede to drive the boat onto the trailer, unfortunetly the ramp isnt deep enough. so betty in the overalls jumps off the swim platfrom now wading in 5 feet of water with her overalls on, trying to PUSH!. mean while the old guy is attempting to pull the boat on from bow cleat and a 5/8's rope. lets just say niether of them are doing anything.... so the hairy, shirtless, toothless guy gets in the cab of his peterbuilt and backs the truck in further while the old guy is still pulling. at this point i am enjoying my time since we were camping near by i grabed a chair to watch. after fiddiling around for 2 hours tieing up a 1 launch ramp that by the way no one came to use it luckily, they finnaly got it on crooked but it was far enough on the trailer for them to leave.

my entertainment was over but at least i learned something that day. if the channel between the lake and ramp is small and you have a large boat its probably not a good idea to try and launch and or retrieve from it.

oh yah, almost forget they never put any straps or chains or other safty devices to hold the boat on the trailer
