I am new to this boating thing, so if I sound stupid its ok with me. I have a 1985 50hp Evinrude. It came with a new tank and line with one fuel line connection and secure click thing to hold it on. I connected it ok but the old tank is still hooked up on the bottom port. My question is can I disconnect the old tank without loosing fuel from the bottom port.

Thank you all

Not sure what You are asking. You can disconnect the fuel connectors on both ends of the hose if that's what you mean.

The new connector has is a two hole connection, one for a fuel line and one for a holder. The old one is just one straight line from the tank to the engine.
I put a new tank and hose. The old hose is below the new connection on the engine. Does this help?
Thank you

Still confusing. Are you saying that there are two fuel connecting ports on the engine?

Disconnect it, it wont leak there's a spring loaded ball i.e. check valve that prevents it from leaking

Fish On!
