been wanting to try this because a 14 x 19 is the right prop but i allways get a really bad holeshot

i used a 1/4 in hole and dont think i would want to go bigger i think it would vent to much

it has compleatly changed how the boat performs with this size prop for the better

it allowed the motor to get up to and rpm out of the hole were it could push the prop at low speed and not get a lot of bow rise

i used the plan posted from

http://www.marinemechanic.com/site/page76.html

i liked it enough i going to pickup a new 14 x 19 this week because the test prop was my spare and is pretty beat up

tommays

Not sure if it's a Merc or OMC prop, but the outer ring is missing. Bet if it was there the thing would work a lot better.

I have a couple extra props. I have a 120 on a 22 foot Sylvan. I would fall within their specs wouldnt I?

I had the plastic ring break off of a 15" OMC prop. It ran so bad I thought the hub was slipping. However, as stated above, new Michigan props have a built in flair on the rear. They seem to work ok.

I would like to try ventilating my 15 x 19, on my 302 OMC OD, just to see if it does anything. They say you can just epoxy up the holes if it causes a problem.

Another thread I read about doing this said to start with a smaller hole and 1/4 inch was probly the biggest you would want to go. My rapture prop came with the holes already drilled in it.

i needed a LOT of slip because its a 20 ft with a 3.0 but the 19 gives the right RPM at WOT

so i went right with the 1/4 in worst that could happen tap it 5/16 and drill plugs with a smaller hole and lock-tite

tommays
