Yeah. Mount Dumb *****. I can laugh about your comment now, (And I laughed pretty hard), but at the time, I was lost, just about to be out of gas, and then grounded out. Put in at a pier on the opposite side of the lake that I put in at. Luckily a very nice stranger helped me out. Next purchase before the new props will be a depth finder...(And I ain't kidding). GPS after that.

Dont feel too bad buddy. Around here we have some rivers that have great fishing but make a fella either expect things like this or buy a jet.

Re: I do not know what I am doing.

I bought a new 4-blde prop for my new to me boat. First time out, I left the drive down and dragged it up the boat ramp. Well, the concrete won and the brand new prop broke. Did the same thing later that summer.

So...don't feel too bad.

There is not much of help out there to keep you from doing this other than knowing your waters and maybe a gps with good chart. Deep finders tells you how deep it WAS, so in an even slope up it will work if you are not going too fast.
Good luck!

If you really want a heart ache, rototill with a $550 stainless prop.

Navigation, having a good map and compass, and knowing how to read them is your best prevention. GPS helps, but only if you know the orienteering part of it first. You still have to read a map and figure out which way you're pointing.

Shear pin too. I've done that before...but it was a rental :D

They gave us back the deposit before they lifted the OB...we beat feet outta there in a hurry... (We were all in our 20's at the time...)

I had everything you posted in the op happen to me not long after I bought my boat except my prop shaft SHEARED OFF CLEAN!!!!!!!

Come to think of it that lower unit doesn't look like it even belongs on that motor. The one insurance paid for is a perfect match though.

Do what I did with my 1st busted prop... cleaned it up and put it on my desk at work as a conversation piece. Scared the bageezus out of me when we broke one of the blades. Now it's just a funny story I tell people who ask about it.

When the Rapture happens, first in can have my boat, cars, home, workshop full of tools and everything else but please take special care of our beautiful German Shepherd, she is so gentle and will miss us.
