I completely went down the rabbit hole with my cooling system Volvo Penta 5.7

This all started with the boat running just a little bit on the warm side but nothing unusual. Being a new boat to me, but having two previous owners, I thought I would tiptoe into my investigation by just having a look at the gasket underneath the riser. That led to removing both risers and the exhaust manifolds. Once I saw how much fun it was soaking them in the Rydlyme bath, I figured it would be fun to do the heat exchanger! Once the heat exchanger was out, the circulation pump was accessible. Being an original pump dating back to 1997 I figured I might as well change it out now before something happens. Then once that was out the impeller was right there just begging to be looked at! And if I’m going this far into it, might as well crack open the thermostat and check that too! Now all I have to do is pull the spark plugs and check the distributor cap, clean the spark arrester, and repaint the grill for the cabin heater.
