Yup, its frozen where I live. It was a balmy -56 last week.
But tomorrow, for the first time in my life, I fly to warmer temps for a winter vacation.
My wife, little girl and I are going to Maui for 10 days. The two boys are men now. They can stay behind and mind the fort.
I wonder what the warm sun will feel like? Touching water that's outside and isn't frozen? Going to seem a bit strange at first but I figure I can get used to it pretty fast.
Maybe some of those fancy drinks with umbrellas and twisty straws would be nice!
It will be a long day on airplanes though. But since winter will last another 2 months this can't come soon enough.

Enjoy the trip Ricoh. I went south last month. I highly recommend it. Just pray that you don't come back to -56.

Enjoy man, I went to Jamaica last month, a well needed reprieve from the ice and snow. Even got out for some fishing. But you'll be aching for open water when you get back. lol

Looooong plane ride. But it was worth it. The air is warm, the sun is warm and even the ocean us warm. Our lakes never get near this warm. I think the fish would die!
I feel like I am on a different planet!

By my calculations, I won't be boating until mid June. And here I thought when I got back it would be warming up

Very true. Its twice as warm. But I want some melting, anything really.
Supposed to warm up to -22 tomorrow though.

ahh..yer a "cup half full" guy!!! lol ( weather network is saying we are gunna get nailed with up to 10cm of freezing rain here....if that happens....things are gunna get dark and cold!)

My personal image of heaven on earth is me sitting in a lounge chair on a white sandy beach, watching the pelicans and dolphins, while a bikini-clad lass brings me a pena-colada every 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, in order to experience that once a year or so, I've had to live where it's warm only four or five months a year. Not nearly as bad as Saskatchewan, but enough to make me wonder why-oh-why my grandfathers, when they came from Italy early in the last century, chose northern U.S. instead of Miami...!

My grandpa, although he was German, came from Russia. Little wonder why he picked Saskatchewan.
Flat ground? Check.
Bitter cold? Check.
Windy? Check.
Short summers? Check.
Just like the motherland!
