I suggest a trip to your closest Mom & Pop hardware store. These stores usually have an aisle or two with all sorts of bins and small drawers stocked with all of the stuff people think they can't find. There are a multitude of rubber & plastic plugs available. Heck, even Lowes and most Farm Stores have this stuff.

My Lowe has a removable bow light (so I can use the trolling motor) and I bought a black rubber cork, attached a short cable to it and the boat.
Cheap, waterproof and it can't get lost!

Bathroom sink stopper. Even comes with a chain. A little magic marker and you're all set.

I searched through the entire Lowes. Nothing. I did find a sink stopper but it was a little too small and would have looked oakie. I try Home Depot and keep looking.

How about a cork cork. They come in all sizes. Push in to fit and shave off excess. Paint to suit. Spare bobber if you need it.

Dave-
I got my black rubber cork at Home Depot.
As I recall, they were in the same aisle as the nuts and bolts.

Did you check the specialty hardware drawers? I was at Lowes this afternoon and when I saw the drawer for nylon plugs I thought of this thread. Home Depot probably stocks the same items too.

What is the size of the hole compared to a cigarette lighter hole? They sell "power plugs" at the local auto stores that are cigarette lighters with a plastic plug. Maybe this will work?

Thanks for the offer Earl but it's already done. I took a wine bottle cork and screwed a black rubber cover to the top of it and secured with super glue. It sounds ugly but it actually doesn't look half bad. Most people think it came that way. :)

No problem glad to hear you got it fixed!
