Hydrotroll & Trollamatic trolling plates

I have a new Searay 180 sport with the 3.0 liter (inline 4 engine 135hp). I am going to use it for fishing as well as family fun. My question is this: It idles too fast to troll with downriggers, I want to slow it down. How do the "Hydortroll & "Trollamatic" trolling plates work? Also do they affect the boat if the boat is put in reverse? Thanks in advance....rookieboater

Hang a 5 gallon bucket off your ski eye. Much cheaper and you only have to use it when you are fishing.
