Hydrofoils affect speed?

Hey guys.. I posted up a few days ago about my 15 HP Gamefisher not hitting speeds much above 10 MPH. Would a hydrofoil put much of a damper on the top end speed (cut 4 to 5 MPH off of top end)? Let me know your thoughts. I'm looking into buying a new prop and if I can avoid it by taking off the hydrofoil, I most certaily will. Just looking to see if this will slow me down that much.

It can slow you down, or possibly speed you up, just depends on if its needed and set up correctly.

By all means pull it off and see if things get better, its easy, costs nothing and can be done right away.

I'll give it a try for sure, I know it smooths out the ride a good bit on my 14 footer but if I can gain some speed, versus, smooth ride, I'll give up the smoothness any day. I do most of my boating in fowl weather anyway. If I can get in and out a little faster, then it's worth it.
