Re: hydrofoil

I put one on my boat this past year and it really needed all the extra lift to get it up on plane that it could get. It's an 18 foot boat with a 28 horsepower motor. It hasn't done any damage to the lower unit except for the holes that you have to drill in the cavitation plate to install it. I'm really glad I put it on because it's made a world of a difference. When they say that your boat will plane 5 mph slower, that's the truth.

Re: hydrofoil

Boats are like people - they all react differently to the same set of conditions.

Your boat might be a whiz with a foil - the next similar boat might not.

Suck it and see. Fill the holes if you're disappointed and no harm will be done.

Re: hydrofoil

I just took one off my '22 Spectre. (it was cracked) The boat handles and performs no differently than before.
