hydrofoil or stabilizer needed

I have a 1976 Larson tri hull 18 ft. I just bought a 140hp Johnson w/tilt-trim.
My question is the motor doesn't have a stabilizer on it how will I know if I need it? or should I just get one. The old Johnson 65hp that was on it had a stabilizer on it. I use the boat for tubing etc. I don't have the 140hp on yet, but the 65 under full lock turns would "cavitate" the prop out of water, of course I might not have manually trimmed the motor properly. Also are the stabilizer/hydrofoil rated by HP? Thanks

What he said, Smart Tabs all the way. I have had both, no more foils.

Go with smart tabs. You will find they are not that expensive and will perform much better than the foils.

My question is the motor doesn't have a stabilizer on it how will I know if I need it?

Do you wear 7-8 gold chains with your fishnet muscle shirts?

Do you have spinners on your lawnmower?

Do you have a 3' wing ontop of the wifes minivan?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then you NEED a hydrofoil, because chicks know that a guy with a big wing......

If you are more interested in results and spending your money wisely, get tabs.
