hydrofoil on an l-drive?

I recently was given a brand new hydrofoil by a buddy. I was considering installing it to help plane (once I get the motor running right of course!) but am wary about using it on an l-drive setup. looks to be fine when trimmed down, but it seems it would interfere with the transom if I were trying to make a tight turn while trimmed up. I don't really have to do that very often, but the cases where I would have to seem like the important ones! Has anyone ever tried this setup on an l-drive and what were the results?
