Hydro swift new owner

I have recently become the new owner of an older hydroswift jet boat. It is powers by a Pontiac 455 and a Berkeley jet. I have rebuilt many cars and trucks but this will be my first boat project. I have a lot of questions and just need general assistance to insure I don’t screw this up. What is the best way to paint a boat? How do you keep the boat stable off the trailer? Are there any “vin numbers” or manufacturing markings that I can search for to confirm the year and make of the boat? What paint is best to use? Is iboats.com the best place to find replacement parts? (Like seats, trim pieces, windshields, carpeting) the boat is in rough shape but I like the challenge of a good project. Can post pictures tomorrow.

first, welcome aboard

second, gel is best. it is what was on your boat from the factory.

there would be a HIN on boats 1972 and newer. it would be in the starboard aft corner of the transom. it should match the bill of sale and the signed title/registration you have.

your boat will most likely need a complete restoration. that includes hull, stringers, transom, as well as the upholstery, etc.

Do a COMPLETE inspection of the boat first.-----If wood was used in the structural parts it may all be rotten.------Don't spend any coins on cosmetics / seats / paint until the boat is declared safe and sound.----Paint is your last worry.
