Hey all, if I have a 1981 400 Hydro assist lower unit, can I use a 1982 mechanical shift 400 lower? If so, what else if anything would I have to change over? Thanks for your time-Jeff
Same as before Jeff. It will work but you have to have the Mech specific shift converter box as well as the Mech specific shift cable. All a setup I would not undertake without some professional help who knows all the bits and pieces.<br /><br />You MAY also need a shift interupter switch in your control lever box.
