hydraulic line

I've been having trim problems, and when I went to check it, I found that one of the braided metallic lines to the power trim was leaking hydraulic fluid. I went to the boat store and ordered it but it won't be in until Saturday morning. I'm just wondering, is there any trick to replacing these lines? (I've got a 1986 Mercruiser Alpha One Outdrive). I'm hoping to avoid any unnecessary delays on Saturday morning! Also, when all is fixed and I replace the fluid, what do I use? The pump says to use 10w30 or 10w40 motor oil, but the fluid that leaked out was oily but CLEAR.

Thanks in advance for any advise,
Brian

Re: hydraulic line

You did not say which line. If I am right you are talking about the lines outside the boat? Anyway... Look at the pic ; Right behind the number 10 (in the picture)is where the lines come together outside the boat under the gimble housing. This block has two bolts (I think) Remove the block and you have access to all hose connections. Good luck. Hydrolic connections

Re: hydraulic line

OK, thanks Trent...does anyone happen to know if I'll have to bleed the system after I get the new line installed?

Oh, and you're right Trent, it's one of the 4 lines on the outside of the boat. It's the "down/in" line on the port side.

Re: hydraulic line

System is self bleeding. Just run it up and down a few times and top off with the motor oil.
