We have a 1987 Bayliner Capri 17 footer with a 2.3 Ford Truck I/O Engine. The trim will not lower or raise. It just makes a spinning sound when the switch is pushed up or down (only one switch). My husband thinks it is low or out of hydraulic fluid. HOW do we check the hydraulic fluid? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

The drive should be in the UP position.
For filling.
If not, you can hurt yourself with oil, the pressure can blow it out and possibly hurt you.
Try to get it up. The trim rams(never get lubed) on the drive.Spray the stainless rams with oil. Then try lifting.
All else fails, undo the pumps resivoir fill plug.I cover with a rag so the oil hit's it not my face.
Then undo and fill with T@T fluid.
Then cycle after replacing the plug.
These are a sealed unit and shouldn't really need much oil.
If it does then there is a leak that needs to be fixed.
Oh yea,Welcome!!
