Hope the weather is good where you're at. Around here (Houston), hurricane Ike is looming.
At this point, up and down the Texas Gulf coast - and for several miles inland - people are planning to get outta Dodge before the sheriff shows up. (By the way, the emergency management people around here are well organized and are really doing a great job.) Countless boat trailers have started moving up and down the highways. For the past several years, many of these trailers haven't traveled more than a mile or two to the boat ramp and back. And of course when they get on the highway, the whell bearings on some of them are going to give it up in the worst way possible. Some might make it about 10 miles, others a few more miles and others a few less. This is particulatly heart breaking if the ol' boat is full of important stuff in an attempt to salvage one's personal belongings.
You guys already know the moral(s) to this story. 1) Always always always be as prepared as you can for these inevitiable hurricanes. 2) Wheel bearing maintenace is very important on any trailer - but especially on those used in salt water.
My thoughts and prayers to all of those folks struggling to get out of harms way.
