Hummingbird Fishing Buddy Feedback?

Hello folks,

I am looking at buying a Hummingbird Fishing Buddy for my 14' Klamath. I am going to be fishing high mountain lakes and will be using a trailer some of the time and car topping some times, hence the reason for looking at the easily removable Fishing Buddy. Does anyone have any first hand feedback on these fish finders? Do they work ok? The reviews on the web are across the board but was thinking that someone on here would have some feedback.

Thanks for any input!

Cheers,

Re: Hummingbird Fishing Buddy Feedback?

Kyle I bought a portable humminbird rather than the fishing buddy due to the price...what I can say is I wish I'd gotten the buddy since I managed to lose the suction cup for the portable unit's transducer. You would never have that problem with the fishing buddy.

I've been using my older lowrance unit whose transducer I've mounted on my minn kota(has worked out great and still portable itself). I still plan on using the portable for ice fishing too they are great for that. Just zip-tie it to a stick and stick it in the hole:D

I'm going to convert it to a dashboard mount permanent finder on my next boat(15'-16' starcraft) since it is so easy to do so. The portable unit runs on its own battery which is nice in case I want to take it on my canoe without bringing the deep cycle.

If I were you I'd get a permanently mounted humminbird(color screen with dual beams if you have the $$:)) for your klamath unless you want to be able to use it on other vessels easily. The transducer won't cause any problems when throwing it on your truck.
