I have a Hummingbird TCR-ID-1. When I hit the power button it beeps and the screen says SELF TEST. The thing keeps beeping and I can't turn it off. I have to take the head unit off the base to get it to stop. If I hold the power button down, it'll go into a demo mode. What could possibly be wrong with it? It was working the other day.

Have you tried contacting Hummin Bird customer service? If your unit is still current they will be most helpful as I've had very good service and advice from them. If your unit is outdated then they may not help at all. Best of luck. Rick.

That is a very old unit. It is very unlikely that HB would repair it.

Make sure you have good voltage at the pins in the mount. Otherwise, disconnect the transducer plug and see if it will power up. If so, reconnect and make sure it still fails self-test (and wasn't a bad connection). You might find a transducer on ebay. Don't put much money in it. Even a basic unit has more capabilites than an old TCR.
