Humming Bird depth sounder problem

I have a Hummingbird depth sounder on our Monterey 302CR. It works OK but shows water depth 11 feet more than it is. I have used my friends boat along side ours and have a pretty good idea how deep the water is. His is right and mine is showing 12 more all the time.
I have had it check and the transmitter/receiver on the bottom cleaned and checked. Would it be the control head needs replacing?
The boat is over 10 yrs old.

Thanks:D

Is there a way to calibrate this is any of the setup menus?

I would look and see how far your and your friends tranducer is mounted under water that may be the 12 inch difference. It reads from the transducer not from the top of the water.

Thanks, but I don't think so. You can adjust the shallow and deep alarms but no calibration adjustments.

Thanks, understand it reads from the bottom of the boat but it is about 12 FEET different not 12 inches. I could live with 12 inches.
12 feet will get you into trouble if you don't know the lake well. I do but still like to see how much water I have under me.

What model is it? Humminbirds normaly have a "Depth Offset" in the menu, on some models it'a called "Keel Offset".
