Yes, that is a Wide Side transducer. Wide Side was the early pre-curser to todays Side Imaging. I never found the WS display that helpful. Look at the manual and see if it is something you think is helpful to you. If you thought standard 2D fake fish symbols annoying, the WS will set you over the top.
The WS transducer has a different pin layout than the 3-beam. The unit detects which is connected and defaults to that display. I manually select 3-beam on start-up on my 400TX, when using WS. This gives me the standard 2D display. You have to ignore all of the hollow fish symbols, which are from the side beams. Most will be false anyway, but what is real, will not be the right perspective (depth or distance).
I recommend jury rigging something to see and form your own opinion, before commiting to taking the time to make a custom mount. I expect that a 3-beam transducer has more value to you.
