Hug the ones you love

Thought I would share this as its been 4 years today since my son passed. I wrote this right after he passed and shared it on another forum.

On Saturday i was visiting my oldest son. 23 years old when i went to leave i was going to give him a hug but thought hes getting to old for that. I have been up since 1 am today. By the time i arrived at the hospital he had already passed away. His girlfriend tried to revive him before the paramedics arrived. And i will have a new grandchild in 3 months to tell them all about their dad. So please give the people you love a hug no matter their age. God i wish i did. Miss you Danny.

I know how you feel, I lost a son a couple years ago. He was visiting a couple week earlier and when he left, I said be safe. Should have hugged him.

I can't imagine the loss of a child. I have a 20 year old daughter and it crosses my mind on occasion, many. I give her a hug everytime she leaves for school, or, when we leave her at school. Sometimes I'm in a crabby mood at the time and she gives me a hug..... The song Cats in the Cradle has stuck with me for years. I know I've failed as a parent at times... And I feel sad for things I didn't do.... Always make time..... Yup, we just never know.... Sorry for your loss, fellas........

Ps. I've been on a rant about various subjects today, this thread just cooled my jets.......

One other thing I cherish. He called me about an hour before passed and left a voicemail. He said to call him in the morning and the words love you dad. It was left at 1236 am. He died suddenly within an hour of that call. I saved that voicemail and still listen to it.

Thank God you can rest assured that you and he were on the best of terms. I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine it.
