This past Fri. while boating around we were once again able to pull up close to this mega ship as it was anchored off the town of Cold Springs near West Point.
I snapped a pic as we have encounted this amazing ship several times over the past seasons cruising along the hudson river. One does not normally see a ship of 173 feet in Haverstaw Bay!
I've seen plenty of amazing yachts in Newport Rhode Island each year. One does not expect to see one like this on the upper hudson.
Sadly, I pulled up a link when we got home only to find that it's up for sale for only 29 million (I bet you could talk them down due to the high fuel prices lately ).
I suspect more salt water boat owners might have known of this yacht. But I say sadly, because it's for sale since the owner recently died.
This guy lived a boaters dream. He and his wife criused all over the world. He owned many businesses and from the article appeared to be a real stand up guy! Appeared he worked for his good fortune unlike many who inherit or marry into their fortunes.

Also check out this other link that I found where the ships captain of like 10 or 12 years on the Battered Bull would regulary take guests crusing up the hudson river. This is also my stomping, boating grounds only on 158 less feet of boat ) He states the hudson is such a place of beauty where as he says there are very few waterways where a ship of this size can travel inland so far away from the ocean.
