Hi Guys, I need to locate a Hub/bearing Kit for my Homemade Trialer. One of my Hubs Bearings and grease seal were destryed in a towing incedent. No numbers exist on the hub or bearings. What I do Know is this:

It is a 5 hole hub with a 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern

The Inner bearing is an A6 bearing, as defined by my Advance auto tech.

The Outer bearing is an A4, as defined...

The Hub is 6 1/2 inch in diameter

The inner hub is 4 inches in diameter.

Based on this info, can anybody help me identify the correct hub application? I ordered a standard 5 lug 4 1/2" Hub kit but it was too small (it came with 1 inch bearings for both inner and outer bearings.)

ANY info you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ray :D     ;)

Re: Hub and bearing Kit info HELP!!!

My utility trailer had odd bearings. I had to order the bearings/seals individually as no pre- packaged kit I could find would fit.

DougV>

Look at the northern tool web site and they have a whole list of bearings, hubs, parts, kits etc. There are some strage sizes out there but they are at least not metric!

Hub/bearing Kit for my Homemade Trialer.
Your Axle,+ Hubs Could be from about Anything that's Ever rolled down the highway,...........
No numbers exist on the bearings
I find this Extremely Hard to Believe,.......
Every Bearing I've ever had in My hand has a Part # on it,....... Some are hard to See,... But their There.......
If you can't find the #s on the Cone side of the Bearing,...... Knock Out the Cups,+ there'll be Another # on It,..... Then a parts catalog will give you the #s for it's corresponding Cone........
as defined by my Advance auto tech
Lastly,....... Go to a REAL PartsHouse,.......Somewhere that uses the Bearing Manufacturer's #s,......
A6,.. or A4,... Are Not acceptable #s.......

Here in town we have a place called Bearings and Drives that have been very helpful in identifying bearings that no longer have numbers on them. If the bearing is destroyed I take the ones out of the other side, take to the store and they mic and match them.

Re: Hub and bearing Kit info HELP!!!

I have found that NAPA can be quite helpful at identifying and selling most obscure bearings. They have catalogs for everything. Even if part numbers can't be found you just have to disassemble and bring them the part. They can easily measure them with calipers and match 'em up on a dimension cross-reference chart.

But then again, it sounds like Advance already identified both bearings with their own part numbers....is there another reason you can't just buy bearings, races, and seals from them (or anyone else) and rebuild your old hub?

"Advance Auto Tech"....that's the funniest thing I have read in quite some time.....there are (or were) numbere on the bearings and races, if you can't find them take the bearings to place such as Motion Industries or maybe NAPA (the local NAPA is only 1/8" above the morons at Autozone) and have them matched up.

Measure front and rear bearing areas on the spindle with a micrometer or caliper. Bearing sets are usually 1-inch front & back for 2000# axles. The next size up usually has a stepped spindle. Bearings are made in standard dimensions so I really doubt you have anything special. Go here to find bearing sizes.

http://www.championtrailers.com/DRUM BRAKE CLUSTERS.htm

If it is, the best thing to do would be to replace the axle with one meant for trailering.

I got to agree with bomar76 There is no such thing a an "AX" in bearing nomenclature.
