HP rating for a 1996 305 5.0

I will get the serial today but i was wondering what the HP rating for the vortec and non vortec version of the 305 is . Mine is a 96 and has a 4 bbl carb

'96 5.0l w/4bbl = 230hp(crankshaft)..... After that they went to EFI(then MPI) or 2bbl(TKS), no more 4 bbls....

P.S. In your signature you have 1984 228 Alpha 1... Alpha 1 didn't arrive until 1986... Yours will be an MR.

If talking Mercruiser, they never made a 4brl/vortec 305, and no vortec 305 in '96. Per Service Manual 17, the 305 4brl (standard head) was 205hp at prop. The 2brl was 190hp. According to SM24, the 305 vortec 2brl was 220hp and EFI was 230hp. Latter model 305 MPI (SM31) are 260hp.

Then engine and outdrive are a 87 the hull is an 84

Sorry, no 228s after 1984... So engine is 1984, maybe drive is 1987....??? What's the serial number of the drive?
