This year its just the two of us. Our daughter and SIL and the kiddos will be spending the week in a cabin on the Guadalupe River with the inlaws. My sis and her hubby that live near here have other plans. The rest of the family all get together in NY.

I will roast a turkey with all the trimmings, I do it every year no matter what. Mr. LF loves the leftovers and he'll have plenty. I can remember years when I had 16 family and friends over for dinner. Just gonna be a little quiet around here this year.

If we don't coma out after dinner maybe we can go fishing. If not then maybe we'll go to the beach.

I wanted to do the whole turkey thing but my 84 year old Mom insists on doing thanksgiving at her house. She loves to cook.

For about the last 15 years its been the same routine. I would take the kids to their moms house for a big turkey dinner. Id eat too much, drink a few beers, take a nap on her couch and then come home.

The youngest of my 3 sons is 18 now. I think my holiday duties are finally over. This year Ill just have a few brews here and nap on my own couch. Its more comfortable than hers anyway. :)

Change of pace this year. Everyone meeting at my brothers house as it is central for everyone, and then we get to redo it the next day (friday) at our home with the inlaws. As my wife is an only child, it will be just the four of us. As cooking is a little hobby of mine I am looking forward to making a meal on our own, not just moms. Turkey on the grill!!!! Still a little hesitant to try the ol' deep fried turkey.

I have never had deep fried turkey but everyone that has says its excellent. That would be a LOT of boiling oil....

This will be the first year at the Nephew's house in Lake Havasu. We'll see . . . His mom always made the best Thanksgiving dinner, hopefully it has rubbed off. We might even run the boat a little if the weather cooperates . . .

Most years we would head to a cabin in Big Bear right after dinner. Spend the rest of the weekend skiing and maybe even playing in the snow. That is still my favorite.

We ordered our meal from the club on base for $33.

Menu is:
Glazed Ham
Cornbread Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes & gravy
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Green Beans
Creamed Corn
Crudites and Dip
Pumpkin pie
Pecan Pie

Enough to feed 6 - maybe their six, I have three teenage boys. So the wife will be supplementing that with a turkey, stuffing, and more pies.

AK Chappy

This year my newest Granddaughter-in-law is hosting the traditional clan gathering for her first time. Her mom-in-law, grandma, brother-in-law (the chef) and aunts will do most of the cooking.

My former wife and I will enjoy the company of most of our descendants and in-laws. With so many nurses in the family there is always someone who is on duty and more on call.

It is one of the highlights of my year. There will be turkey (roasted and smoked), ham, venison, sweet potato casserole, garlic mashed potatos, string bean casserole, pumpkin and apple pie, Champagne, cider, beer and Cowboys football.

It is such a wonderful event that it tears me up just thinking about it. :)

We'll have a quiet one here at home. Step-son will come and it'll be just the three of us and lots of left-overs. Yum, turkey sandwiches with lots of mayo. Yum!
Have a great one you all.
Bassy

Definitely give the deep fried a try. We did three one year. Started at my mom's neighbor. When they were done, we moved the whole thing to the next neighbor and then finally to mom's. 3 turkey's in about 4 1/2 hours. All very tasty.

I will be right here, working until 3pm. Then it's home to get the squash and green beans ready. Then the 1 1/2 mile trip to my sisters house by 5pm for dinner. Should be about 15 or 20 of us this year. Always a good time.

After some consideration (LOL) decided to do a roast beef. That didn't take much thought, really, as a roast is about my #1 fare ... love it.

I'll probably get phone calls with hints about dropping over since my friends all know I love to cook and they love eating it :)

If not, I'll enjoy it myself and likely find an excuse to hit the water if the afternoon weather is at all cooperative.

I had already planned to bake bread & rolls and make pasta on Wed, so including a pie oe two is no big deal. Wed threatens to be rainy anyway.

Going to the Texas Hill Country for thanksgiving this year for our family reunion. We've had as many as 116 people at our gatherings.... Always a BLAST!!

We'll have turkey baked, smoked, deep fried, pit cooked, grilled... (can you think of any other ways to cook turkey? LOL!) Also on the menu will be a fair share of venison and other wild game. Then a big fish fry on Sunday before we all go home!

Me and my family will see just how intoxicated we can get before they throw us out of the restaurant. At least 95% of the time we get together at restaurants someone complains about the noise. :D

Re: How Will You Spend Thanksgiving Day ?

My dad always has to work thanksgiving, I always spend thanksgiving at my aunts house with my moms family, but this year will be different.

My grandfather and his wife moved to Maine, and have invited my family this year, so I'll be going in Maine. It will be a long day, I gotta get up early to take my former girlfriend (now just friend) to a football game, spend a little time at the game and act like I care, then drive an hour and a half to meet my family in Maine, eat then be back home for dessert at my aunts house. So it will be a long, filling day ;)
