How warm should the water be out of the tell tale hose? I was letting my boat idle on the hose for 10 minutes and I felt the water coming out of the tell tale and it was very warm, some might say hot. Is that normal?

You will feel pain at about 106 F. The water will be above that temperature, so too hot to touch.

Maybe. You didn't say what engine it is. It may or may not have a Thermostat, that will certainly affect how warm the water gets, by design and by not working correctly. Some Tel-tales dump cold water, others dump warmed water

Pretty common on all outboards that I've owned. The hose cannot deliver the same amount of water as sitting in the lake.
