As someone who can go for six months at a time without going more than 25 miles from my home I finally got to see a lot of the country in the last five days. Got hotel rooms in Las Vegas, Amtrack tickets in Wisconsin, bus tickets in Illinois, flight tickets on Spirit Airlines in California, shopped at a Kohls store in Ohio, and ate at a lot of places in between. Paid for a new cell phone, rented cars in five different states, and even paid to park them in different cities. At least that if what my credit card company told be when I checked on line yesterday evening. Spent about a half an hour with them last night getting those charges separated from ones I made locally finally. The only thing I can think that might have happened was I bought fuel for my truck at a local chain and I remembered having trouble getting it to accept my credit and discount cards at the pump. I guess I was the victim of a skimmer. A real PITA to straighten out over $4000 dollars in illegal charges but at least no cash out of my own pocket.

If you haven't, notify the place you got gas. They should check for a skimmer and other customers may be "Travelin' Men".

Talked with their security chief this morning. They are a large chain with stores in several states and they also are working now on investigating. A store of another brand discovered a skimmer at a location only a few miles away in the same time frame as my purchase. A lot of the hotel and travel purchase were internet purchases but not some of the restaurants including a McDonalds for 15 bucks was two thousand miles away.

Las Vegas and Nevada are the worst. I had my Corporate Card pirated there once. The pirates spent $6K in two days.

It took me weeks to unwind. I had to fill out detailed forms and send back to Citibank.

Like I said-internet.

I HATE Las Vegas!.

in addition to feeling violated, you now get to change all your accounts that are tied to that card.

had same thing happen with the new credit union card. they issued a new card, however spent about 5 hours switching things like amazon, gym, sun-pass, truck payment, etc. over to the new card when it arrived.
