How to test/run motor out of water?

Is there some way I can run my boat (motor) out of the water without damaging it? Boat is a 95 Baja Blast with a Merc Sport Jet 90.

I don't live around any water that I could conveniently put the boat in.

You need an a garden hose adapter hooked up to the hose comming off the pump housing and make sure that the water pressure is less than 1 inch while the hose is held up vertically else u end up putting water in the engine, and never rev it past idle or you will blow yor ride plate off if it backfires.

I asked the question if its feasible to remove the ride plate to test the engine other than idle but so far i got no reply
