I am buying a 1993 245 four winns Vista from a friend with a newer crate motor replacement. The motor and drive are labeled King Cobra. It has the hump on the drive. Being a '93 and humped is the best one right? At this price, I can afford to convert if need be. Right? It is meticulously maintained and he lost his job and is moving out of state. I am getting it for $4k. Needs nothing.

I have seen all different hp ratings for the boat that year. Most commonly 295 hp.

Does anyone know what version this boat came with or how to tell the difference between the 5.8l versions?

Thank you.

PS. My old boat had the 470. I know how to pick 'Em. Do most of the work myself as long as I can find knowledge and parts. Thanks to you guys and gals here.

Ford parts are getting really hard to find. No so much the engine parts, but the marine accessories that go on them. Exhaust, ignition, if EFI there is almost no support.

If the drive is the OMC cone clutch King Cobra (and the hump makes it sound like it is), RUN AWAY as fast as you can. You can't even buy an impeller for that drive, nothing is available for it, and it can't be converted to anything else.

Bond-o and Don S are very experienced, I suggest that you take their advice. I didn't know about iboats and ended up with an OMC King Cobra and learned after I bought it.

Mine's a GMC and I have a stash of impellers which makes it easier, but I hope nothing breaks.

Find yourself a Mercruiser or Volvo-Penta.
